Unfortunately, quick-fix, crises oriented health-care has
become the steady diet of a large portion of our population
today. The ever increasing enticement of new drugs and surgical
breakthroughs has created the illusion that there will always
be a safety net when crises strikes. All too often, these
"safety nets" are simply a way of hitting the snooze
button on the alarm clock of our bodies warning systems. Eventually
we must wake up-or live a short and miserable life.
Our goal is to provide you with "State-of-the-Art"
chiropractic care that will produce measurable results and
lasting benefits to your health and wellness. We will strive
to help you understand more about health and how your body,
when healthy, will work to heal itself 24 hours per day, 365
days per year.
We respect that what you do for your health is ultimately
under your control. If you are simply looking for pain relief,
we applaud your decision to avoid the potential harmful effects
of drugs. If you are recovering from a crises, accident or
injury, you couldn't find a better place to recover and heal.
Regardless of your purpose for choosing our office, we would
like to ignite within you a personal passion for health and
we invite you to become personally involved in creating a
healthier, happier and more productive YOU!
What is chiropractic?
Chiropractic is a branch of the healing arts based upon the
understanding that good health depends, in part, upon a normally
functioning nervous system (especially your spine, and the
nerves extending from your spine to the rest of the body).
As a science, Chiropractic is specifically concerned with
the relationship between structure, primarily the spine, and
function, primarily the nervous system, and the affect this
relationship has on health.
"Chiropractic" comes from the Greek word chiropraktikos,
meaning "effective treatment by hand." Chiropractic
stresses the idea that the cause of many disease processes
begins with the body's inability to adapt to its environment.
It looks to address these diseases not by the use of drugs,
chemicals, or surgery, but by locating and adjusting an area
of the body (the spine and/or extremities) which is functioning
improperly. Chiropractic philosophy endorses the fact that
the body is it's own best healer. The application of natural,
non-invasive treatment, is intended primarily to remove interferences
which prevent the body's innate healing characteristics from
working the way they were intended.
What about Medical treatment?
Dr. Dombek fully endorses the reasonable utilization of the
medical and surgical sciences, which often have a profound
and life-saving benefit in cases of crises intervention and
organic illness. However, as the public becomes increasingly
aware of the limitations, potential complications, and side
effects of traditional care, more and more individuals are
embracing the proven benefits of Chiropractic.
According to Dr. Dombek, "The only competition I have
is with sickness and disease. My primary goal is to get patients
back to a healthy and pain-free lifestyle as soon as possible,
and working in conjunction with the medical profession is
frequently the best way to do that".
When necessary, chiropractic care includes referral to a
highly qualified network of appropriate medical specialists.
What conditions benefit from chiropractic care?
Although many people associate chiropractic with the treatment
of low back pain, research studies have found it to be effective
for a large variety of conditions, such as whiplash injuries,
migraine headaches, neck and shoulder pain, carpal tunnel
syndrome, fibromyalgia, sciatica, numbness in hands and feet,
sports injuries, and thoracic outlet syndrome; among many
others. Chiropractic may also offer the additional benefits
of relieving stress, enhancing immune function and optimizing
the innate healing ability of the body. Although chiropractors
don't directly treat organic disease, it can frequently contribute
to the effectiveness of other medical therapies.
Does Chiropractic hurt?
No. Under normal circumstances, adjustments are not painful
or even uncomfortable. As a matter of fact, most patients
report they feel very good and sometimes free of pain almost
immediately after receiving a chiropractic adjustment.
To give an adjustment, the chiropractor identifies areas
of spinal subluxation (spinal bones that are misaligned or
lacking proper function), determines the specific intervention
needed, and skillfully applies a gentle movement to the segment
to make a correction.
Modern chiropractic treatment can be surprisingly gentle
and specific. For most patients, the great benefits of chiropractic
adjustments will more than offset any momentary discomfort
they may experience, if any.
Is Chiropractic safe?
Chiropractic adjustments are extremely safe. The risk factor
is estimated to be in excess of one million to one. Recent
studies have demonstrated that chiropractic manipulation is
600-2,000 times safer than over the counter anti-inflammatory
drugs (NSAIDS like ibuprofen) and over 10,000 times safer
than surgery. Current research calculates the risk of serious
complications from a neck adjustment at 1.5 in 1 million treatments.
When you choose chiropractic you join the millions worldwide
who've put their trust in safe, scientifically proven health
care for the entire family. Chiropractic has been endorsed
by hundreds of scientific studies as a safe program of care
for patients of all ages.

Chiropractors receive an education that emphasizes neuromuscular
diagnosis and treatment. Preparation for the practice of chiropractic
is concentrated on three areas of learning; basic training
in the biological and health sciences (anatomy, physiology,
histology, biochemistry, clinical and radiological diagnosis);
specialized training in the chiropractic discipline (theoretical
studies, practice, diagnosis and applications); and extensive
clinical training.
